Broadcast Notes
We have been attempting to record lectures using the PowerPoint built in
``broadcast'' capability. Unfortunately, we seem to be off to a bad start.
The transmitter battery was weak and dying on lectures 1--3, so only the
first parts of those lectures have sound. Transmitter battery died on
day 4, so we have no sound there. We put in a fresh transmitter battery on
Day 5...and sound died after about 25 minutes. Current hypothesis is that
the receiver battery failed on Day 5.
On Day 6 we avoided the wireless microphone. The sound quality is worse
using the laptop built in microphone, but it is there.
With luck, we'll get the battery issues worked out on the wireless...
Anecdotal evidence suggests that upgrading to Media Player 9 gives the best
experience with the Powerpoint broadcasts, particularly jumping around
within the broadcast. WMP9 is available for Windows 98, 2000, and XP.
